Puppy Update: 10 Months Old

by Melissa R. on October 4, 2013

Our Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppy, Emme, is now over 10 months old. I can’t believe how fast time has gone. My last update was at 6 months old so we have a lot to cover.

My young pup is a bit of a puller on the leash! While we are doing our best to train a loose leash for walks, when I started her at obedience classes, our trainer suggested a head halter. I dread days like these… But I’ve managed many of them so far with my 6-month-old puppy, and I have to say – we’ve done well! Some days I think I’ve tired her out MORE than if we went outside! How did we do it? Here’s how…

The other night at our Obedience class, I noticed Emme (our 6-month-old puppy), squatting and peeing quite a lot. I chalked it up to all the excitement of the class. The following night though, we had multiple accidents in the house. This is very unlike Emme! She has been pretty well potty-trained since about 12 […]

We just started a 6-week Puppy Agility Foundation class. I thought I’d chronicle what we are learning on the blog.

Puppy leaping, spinning, jumping, pushing, biting, chewing leash, barking…. You, looking overwhelmed on the street, while your neighbors watch you try to walk your puppy.
