Product Review: Cat Cave by Lollycadoodle

by Melissa R. on February 12, 2015

Ritter approvesWe recently brought home one of the new products we added online. It is called the Cat Cave, and is quite interesting! I knew we had to bring it home to see what our ever-curious kitties would think.

A bit about the Cat Cave:
“Animals are naturally attracted to the scent and feel of wool, so they clamor for a chance to snuggle inside this 100% wool cave. The Cat Cave is made through a process called felting, which involves agitating wool with soap and water into a thick, durable weave. Wool is soft to the touch and has many benefits as a slumber material. It breathes well and repels dirt, mold, fleas and odors. It also helps regulate your pet’s body temperature by keeping him warmer in winter and cooler in summer.”

About five seconds after we placed it in the bedroom, our three curious cats were already sniffing it and interested. Five seconds more, and our little female, Cirrhi, was investigating further, as you can see below:
Cirrhi investigates the Kitty Cup

She spun around and around in the cup like a whirlwind! She was having a very grand time and we found that putting our hand under it and playing with the bottom of the cup enticed Cirrhi to play even harder.

Eventually all the cats checked it out one-by-one. It was nice to see it fit a wide range of cat sizes: we have 7 lbs to 17 lbs in our home and they all managed to get inside.

Kai approvesWe knew of course, the true test would be TIME. How long would they stay interested in it? I can happily say so far we have had it two weeks, and the cup is almost always occupied.

We usually have it tucked in on itself so it is more of a bed than a cup. But for play, everybody enjoys if we fold it back out into the cup and toss a toy mouse in it for some fun.

The wool feels really solid and I love the quality and colors as well.

Check out the video of our big boy, Ritter, having some playtime in the cup:
