Drs. Foster & Smith extends special congratulations to Kela Ellis, an employee who recently was elected a recipient of Paul Newman’s Foundation Grant. Kela’s named charity (the Ronald McDonald House) will be receiving a donation for $10,000 from the foundation. Only 10 U.S. people are granted a donation from Paul Newman’s foundation per year. Kela and a family member will be flown out to Washington DC for the much-deserved fan fair.
Kela and her family’s story began a year after their daughter (Ashley) succumbed to brain cancer in 1989. In memory of Ashley, the Ellis family began collecting cans and tabs for recycling. They call their project Cans for Cancer and in 1997 made it part of Make a Difference Day. Every year they donate the proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House.
Kela has 23 years of service at Drs. Foster and Smith. Marko Modic, Human Resources Manager, spoke for the company and said, “We couldn’t be more proud of the hard work she and her family have done to help families in need.”
Again, congratulations to Kela and the other 9 recipients of the Paul Newman’s Foundation Grant.
