Great post, made me smile a bit on this dreary morning. I particularly love “Dogs have owners, cats have staff” and “When the cat’s away, the mice will play” – I remember my dad saying this all through my childhood.

i’ve heard a cutesy little saying that i have to agree with, that “a house is not a home without a cat.” and while it’s not exactly a “quote”, i once heard something along these lines:
the dog thinks: “They brought me home, gave me shelter and a warm bed, fun toys, plenty of food and tasty treats, and lots and lots of love. They must be gods!”

we have a number of our own cat-related “inside jokes” that almost qualify, one of my favorites being “aah, that new cat smell!” when we get new foster kittens. yes, one of the first things i do when we get new foster kittens is snuggle ‘em and give ‘em a sniff. hey, some people can’t resist sniffing a newborn baby, and to be fair, i’m not the only feline foster parent i know that sniffs their new foster kittens. it’s something to savor. rescuing another cat is always cause to #CELEBRATE in my book!

I love the quote – “You can’t look at a sleeping cat and be tense.” this is so true! Often when I’m sitting and reading, I call for the cat, because to me there is nothing cozier than being curled up in your favorite chair, reading a good book, and having your cat asleep in your lap!
