Silver Sand Eels from H2O Life Aquarium Foods are also known as “Lancefish” or “Silversides.” They swim in schools and burrow in the sand to hide from predators in the coastal waters of the Northeast Atlantic.

Silver Sand Eels are relatively small, about 2 to 3 inches long, very skinny like an eel, and somewhat “oily.” This makes them a highly sought after and very tasty item for feeding to aquarium fish.
Silver Sand Eels are an excellent food for the more predatory fish with larger mouths. They are commonly fed to Triggerfish, Groupers, large Wrasses, Eels, and small Sharks. In addition, they make an excellent food for hungry, large-mouthed fish in the freshwater aquarium hobby.
It is common practice and great fun to use some sort of feeding tool such as a clear acrylic “feeding stick” to spear the eels and then directly present them to your hungry aquarium pets as they wait patiently for the food to get close enough to devour.
