Pur Luv Dog Treats

Well, we have conducted an unofficial test on Pur Luv dog treats and received a “4 Paws Up” rating from every dog that tried them.

It all started when a friend of mine called to tell me that the treats I gave her dog, (Pur Love Grande Bones) made him act a little “unusual”.  Zy, a Newfoundland (my Rudder’s half brother), made pleased growly noises when given the bone and insisted on “sneaking it” outside and burying it in a snow bank.  Zy came back in with sly, “I buried it but you don’t know where it is” eyes and hung around the back door for awhile until he insisted on going out, digging it up again, and bringing it back inside. Apparently, he did this several times before he finally brought it in and started gnawing on it, all the while making those same pleased growly noises. It took him about 10 minutes to finish it once he started gnawing, pretty good entertainment value for dog and owner!

So . . . I had to see what Rudder would do. He didn’t take it outside to “season” it (or whatever Zy was doing). However, he did toss it up in the air while making strange noises, ran around with it in his mouth like Groucho Marx with a cigar, and sat at my feet with it in between his front paws looking at me as if to dare me to snatch it from him. He even growled at the cat that had the nerve to glance at the bone!  When he finally started on it, he enjoyed it immensely and it took him a good 10 minutes to get through it. I would say it was a worthwhile dog treat!

When I got the two dogs together this weekend and gave them each a Grande, they went in and out of the house so much playing with them, that Zy’s owner and I were not really sure where they ended up. It was as if they were playing a shell game with each other or with us and it won’t be until the snow melts that we know if the bones were devoured or just being “seasoned” for some future treat time.

I gave the bones to five colleagues, wondering what their dog’s reactions would be. The dogs all loved them and it took them a long time to get through them. One smaller dog even stole a larger dog’s Grande Bone (they are available in smaller sizes, which my colleague will be purchasing in the future).

Please leave a comment, I’m interested in your dog’s reaction to these delicious Pur Luv dog bones. The Grande and Mini bones are for dogs that tend to chew through treats fast, while the Bites are a little chewier and for smaller mouths.
