Cat Cottage: Perfect For the Box-Loving Cat

by Keri K. on March 29, 2011

Cat Cottage

Whenever my husband and I go out of town, our cats spend the night with my parents (Mom calls them her “grandpets”). Their house has large patio doors and windows that the cats love, and I’ve always thought it would be nice if they had a piece of cat furniture there. The cats spend tons of time on their own furniture at home.

The Cat Cottage was a perfect solution for this. It’s light, so it can be easily moved to another room if Mom needs it out of the way. But it also looks so much nicer than a cardboard box, so it doesn’t seem strange to have it sitting right out in the living room either! Plus, the Cat Cottage is less expensive than carpeted pieces of furniture.

Assembly is easy and the Cat Cottage is sturdy, more than capable of handling two cats at once. Our kitties were trying to climb through its windows before we even had it set up all the way. We put their Cat Cottage in front of the patio doors and they spent the next hour sitting on top watching squirrels.

OooOoooOoo My kitties would SO love this! My 3 cats always compete for the “King of the Castle” spots in my home, its hilarious to watch !

Erica Gutierrez March 29, 2011 at 8:36 am

My 7 month old kitten would love this! She finds boxes very amusing and will jump in and out of them, knocking them down and flipping them over in the process. I have bought her other “cat” toys and she still goes back to the box that I have spent absolutely NO money on.

Holly March 29, 2011 at 8:49 am

My two cats, Kyo and Lily would love this, because they both love to get on top of things and stare out of windows.
My youngest, Kyo loves to go in and out of boxes while playing with my ferret in them.
I know they would love it.They play in anything they can find form shoe boxes, to bags, to trash.
Plus, I think it’s about time they got their own place to settle down into πŸ˜‰

Little Mews Rescue March 29, 2011 at 8:57 am

I rescue cats from less than desirable situations. Many of them need a little place of their very own to hang out in while they adjust to their new lives indoors. The Cat Cottage would be perfect for them!! It would be their own little hideaway, a place to sleep, play, and enjoy the good life while they wait for their forever homes.

Diane Ballum March 29, 2011 at 9:04 am

Wow, thanx for the opportunity to win this Cat Cottage! My cats would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!!! Especially my little girl, Kami! She sits in boxes, all the time!

Sherri O. March 29, 2011 at 9:05 am

My cats would LOVE this. They are obsessed with cardboard boxes, and this is oh so much more than a cardboard box!

Natalie Salamone March 29, 2011 at 9:07 am

My two cats would absolutely love this! They love any shape or size cardboard box. And, it is adorable!

Ashlee March 29, 2011 at 10:01 am

I have 3 Sphynx kitties that love to get into trouble by climbing on everything. They would LOVE LOVE LOVE this!

Robin March 29, 2011 at 10:23 am

Love it! My kitties would love one of these. πŸ™‚

Linda Tague March 29, 2011 at 10:23 am

My kitties would Love this, esp my sassy Sassy girl !!
She’s always been obsessed with boxes, anyth she can crawl into and play in !
After reading the Little Mews Rescue note above, it seems those kitties with no homes yet, may benefit the most however. Where are you Little Mews ?
Thank you for offering this opportunity ~~~

WOW that looks so cool my cay loves to be in a paper shopping bag with handles, but I worrry he will get caught in them. I have cut them off but he’s not impressed and the bag doesn’t have the stability. Iwould love to get him a kitty condo but nery expensive and heavy..This looks like a castle and he’s the king of my castle so pick Honey and me…..

Rosemary March 29, 2011 at 10:36 am

They’re cats. It’s a great big cardboard box. Enough said.

Linda Bahr March 29, 2011 at 10:45 am

my kitten would love to have this…so would I!! I love to watch her play!! I think she would enjoy many hours playing in the cat cottage….Thank you!

Tina March 29, 2011 at 10:51 am

My cats would LOVE this Cat Cottage. They are always hopping into any box left out for more than a millisecond. The rule in my house is check the box first before taking it out to the trash!

Billie March 29, 2011 at 1:02 pm

My cat Boots would absolutely love this. He had a box that he loved to hide his toys in and then we had to finally get rid of the box as it was falling apart. He loved to play hide and go seek in it too.
Everytime a package comes to the house he is always right there to check it out, I know that he is only hoping that it is another box for him.

Joni March 29, 2011 at 3:46 pm

My 2 cats would like a Cat Cottage to hide away from the foster dogs I have. I rescue Ess’s and both of my cats, Binks & Stewie have taught many a Springer that it is OK to sniff a cat, OK to lick a cat, but just don’t chase a cat. I have a south facing window that a Cat Cottage would fit perfectly in.

Julie Morales March 29, 2011 at 3:58 pm

We have four cats and they all love to play! We have a cat condo right now with two beds, some scratching posts and a ball with a bell inside hanging from it, but they’ve already broken the ball with the bell off and have scratched off a lot of the rope-like pieces that they scratch on, so it’s looking pretty forlorn sitting here falling apart. They still love it though because they like to climb and like to hide in the little cubby-hole bed. I know they’d appreciate something new and solid instead of the one they have that’s falling apart.

Martha March 29, 2011 at 4:39 pm

My 9-month-old kitten Lucky would LOVE this. She is always playing, and climbing and doing other kitten things.
She loves boxes and bags and anythings she can “hide” inside of!

Pavel Dyson Vacuum March 29, 2011 at 5:19 pm

Hi Drs Foster and Smith!

The picture looks like taken from a cartoon – how could you make kitties to look out for the photo session? πŸ™‚
They (cats) reminded me the quote of Voltaire – ” paradise is where I am” – certainly the cat cottage looks like paradise.

Best!
/Pavel

My cats would love this! They would love being able to climb and have their own place to hide out in.

Kelly Ann T. March 29, 2011 at 7:30 pm

Yoshi would love a birds eye view of the wildlife outside our windows. We live on a two lane highway so there is no way he can go outside, but this would be perfect for him.

Amy March 30, 2011 at 12:33 am

I had one till it got ruiened when the rain came into my apartment. I have four cats and they just adored the thing! Any cat that loves to climb would love it

Kim Perry March 30, 2011 at 6:53 am

Please let our mom win this. It’s much nicer than our current home and us being cats & all, we require the very best. Thank you, Kobe & Parker

brittany March 30, 2011 at 7:41 am

I would love one of these for impulse. He loves houses and cat trees, and we can never have enough! He lives with me in my section of the house, and I try to make the environment as enriching as I can.

Michelle J March 30, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I have three cats. I live in a small apartment so my cats would love this! They’ll be able to have their own space, a hideaway where they can go to when they need some privacy. I would be soooo happy if I won! I seriously never win anything!

Arci March 30, 2011 at 4:14 pm

OMG my 3 cats would love love love this!!! The cat sitting at the top looks like Princess (one of our 3 cats). They are always fighting to be at the window so this definitely would be perfect for them!

Bonnie Ramba March 30, 2011 at 9:16 pm

Wow – this looks like a cat’s dream come true! Let’s face it, every Christmas our cats are the happiest of everyone … because they LOVE boxes!! As much as my cats would enjoy this, I would love one for my friend Peggy’s cats, Betsy and Ross. I have never seen cats that love boxes as much as those two.

Carol Goodson March 31, 2011 at 8:00 am

I have 26 cats, and every one of them would love this… luckily, they all get along and are very good at sharing πŸ™‚

Diane Newsom March 31, 2011 at 8:02 am

My cat Bella loves to hide and jump out at you when you walk by. She would LOVE this

Ann N March 31, 2011 at 8:03 am

We have 5 cats and they would absolutely love this! They are playful, love to climb and explore.. What fun it would be to have one of these.

Rebecca Winters March 31, 2011 at 8:03 am

I have two rescued baby kittens who would love to win a cottage! I am currently trying to trap their mom, a semi feral Siamese…. if I can do so, she will be getting spayed and coming inside with her babies. I am sure she would also enjoy a cottage.

Anne Paulo March 31, 2011 at 8:04 am

My cats would love a Cat Cottage because they have had to spend the past few months upstairs due to a cat-aggressive foster dog and would LOVE to have something new and different in their environment! Thanks!

Rachel Bournival March 31, 2011 at 8:04 am

That is the cutest thing I’ve seen since my grandmother’s barn-cat hideaway that somebody gave her. She lived way out in farming country, and so hand an abundance of kitties everywhere. Somebdoy converted a large dog house into a cat community, with the phrase “LIZ’S CAT HOUSE” painted on the front.

While I don’t have any cats of my own, I foster, and currently have eight cats in my house. They would LOVE to have a piece of furniture to play in!

JoAnne Sickeri March 31, 2011 at 8:08 am

My kitties Jillian and Lucy would LOVE a cat cottage! We need a new piece of kitty furniture anyway, and since Jilly is the ‘new kid on the block’ they are still fighting over the existing stuff– something new that neither of them already “owns” and they can both climb on and watch the birds out our window would be super!! πŸ™‚ Plus, they already think they own my “cottage”, so they need one of their own! πŸ™‚

Lisa March 31, 2011 at 8:08 am

My two cats would absolutely love this! They always get so jealous of the cardboard boxes I give my rabbits and try to play in those with the rabbits. My rabbits are a little bossy and always kick the cats out, so I know my cats would love a Cat Cottage of their own.

Gretchen Kuhns March 31, 2011 at 8:08 am

My cat would love to win this!

melinda March 31, 2011 at 8:09 am

omg,all 5 of my cats plus 2 strays that i took in love boxes they would love this, they would love this.good luck to all.i never won anything be nice if i won.

Julie March 31, 2011 at 8:10 am

Maya would love to sit atop this and watch the world go by!

Jen B March 31, 2011 at 8:15 am

Our 2 cats would love this since large boxes are their favorite thing to sit on or relax in! We recently sold our traditional cat tree since neither used it anymore, but boxes never go out of style with them. They will be on a new box brought into the house within minutes :o)

Kelly Amos March 31, 2011 at 8:15 am

My furry babies would love to have a cottage! This would be a great place to go and get away from their “ruff” brother! πŸ˜‰

Kim March 31, 2011 at 8:16 am

We have 4 cats. The only little girl we have, was a rescue. Someone had declawed her & threw her out. I couldn’t believe a cat so skinny could still be alive. She’s had a very tough time trusting people. I would love to have this just for her. NO boys allowed!

Kristi March 31, 2011 at 8:16 am

My two cats would love this. We have a mini house set up for our 2 girls and they sleep in there all day and get a little crabby when the girls get home to play in it.

Susan Clanton March 31, 2011 at 8:17 am

I have 11 cats of varying ages, but they’re all curious and playful so they would have a BALL with this Kitty Cottage! They’d probably have to take turns playing in it!

Anita March 31, 2011 at 8:20 am

Currently proud cat parents of 14. We could certainly use this as our scratching posts have been here for nearly 10 years and are pretty shabby. Everyone stays inside so this would be a great diversion to climb in and watch goings on. (Gotta get back to litter box duty!)

Kit Mandau March 31, 2011 at 8:23 am

My friends tease me that I bought our house for my cats. I think it would be perfect to have a house inside our house for the cats!

dawn howatd March 31, 2011 at 8:24 am

My big boy Boris is such a male Dive, he is always shoving our other two cats, Merlin and Pareevash, off of our 7 ft cat tree. Every ” prince” needs his own cottage!

Jennifer March 31, 2011 at 8:26 am

My kitten, Oscar, who I adopted after he was found in a barn, absolutely loves paper and cardboard! You can’t put anything down without him going nuts. I would love to give him the pampered life he deserves after such a rough start in life. Oscar would be very grateful!! Thank you.

dawn howard March 31, 2011 at 8:27 am

My big boy Boris is such a male Diva, he is always shoving our other two cats, Merlin and Pareevash, off of our 7 ft cat tree. Every prince needs his cottage, Er, uh, castle!

Donna W. March 31, 2011 at 8:28 am

Very Nice, I have 3 cats, the oldest of my girls will climb into any box she sees, she even tried to climb into the box that knee high stockings come in, she was able to get 3 legs in but tipped over trying to get her last leg in, it was hysterical. I just know she would really, really love the Cat Cottage. Princess, Precious and Calli say: please send us this really cool box, we just know we would have lots of fun playing in and around it, plus mom can have some of her shoe boxes back, hahaha.

Kitty Whitty March 31, 2011 at 8:30 am

I am owned by 5 and fostered by another for a total of 6 felines in my house! They have two big F&S cat trees and about 50 toys but their favorite thing is a box. Yesterday I got a box in the mail. It measured about 5x7x3 (INCHES!) and three of them took turns trying to crawl into it. I know they would love a Cat Cottage!
