Cat Cottage: Perfect For the Box-Loving Cat

Cat Cottage

Whenever my husband and I go out of town, our cats spend the night with my parents (Mom calls them her “grandpets”). Their house has large patio doors and windows that the cats love, and I’ve always thought it would be nice if they had a piece of cat furniture there. The cats spend tons of time on their own furniture at home.

The Cat Cottage was a perfect solution for this. It’s light, so it can be easily moved to another room if Mom needs it out of the way. But it also looks so much nicer than a cardboard box, so it doesn’t seem strange to have it sitting right out in the living room either! Plus, the Cat Cottage is less expensive than carpeted pieces of furniture.

Assembly is easy and the Cat Cottage is sturdy, more than capable of handling two cats at once. Our kitties were trying to climb through its windows before we even had it set up all the way. We put their Cat Cottage in front of the patio doors and they spent the next hour sitting on top watching squirrels.

My three cats would love a cat cottage. It would accompany their cat pirate ship and dome home perfectly. If it can be climbed, crushed, or snuggled then my cats are all about it!

My cat has not actually come home yet but I’m sure she would like someplace to call her own so she could hide from the dogs! We all need a little space just for us.

We have quite a few cats in our home, some of whom are fosters for an organization that tries to tame and find homes for kittens from a feral colony. I know they would all love a cat cottage. We have a cat tree, but this would provide hiding places for some of the shy ones.

Our cat likes to find places where she thinks we can’t find her. Sometimes it does happen.

Terry Parrish March 31, 2011 at 8:50 am

Other times we’ll be looking for her and you turn around and there she is. I’m beginning to think she thinks were pretty dumb. If she could talk she would probably tell us “she needs her space.”

My cat Mat is always getting into my boxes when I’m trying to package something up to send out. He thinks they are all his. He likes to get in them and jump out to scare the dog. It’s so funny. He would love to have one of these to call his own.

My little Eddie would love a new Cottage, something to call his very own. Although Eddie is getting new things all the time he also has a lot of hand -me- downs that he claimed or was given from the time he came to live with us a year ago. Eddie is about to celebrate his number 2 birthday and we are planning to move into a new home so a Cottage play house would be a fantastic surprise to take along with him when we move. WE had this same cottage in our home years ago for our other babies who are no longer with us but I have many funny photos of their little faces looking out of the windows and my favorite photo is of our guy George as he was moving from one floor to the next I got a shot of his arms hanging through the opening to go down. Now I need to get some funny photos of Eddie doing the same!

I have 5 inside cats. One of my cats Mickey loves to climb and he loves to find a place that he can be alone for a little while. The cat cottage would be perfect for them.

My cats (3 in all) would LOVE a cottage because they just love to play and sleep. Lazy kitties!

We are OWNED by 4 cats. Two indoor/outdoor and two strictly indoors. The two indoors cats run our house. They are the boss! One needs a small dish of milk every morning and the other needs fresh water left in the bathroom sink every morning. And you MUST get up at 6:15. They all LOVE boxes, any kind of boxes.

I have a little kitty that is almost 2 years old and she loves “hiding”. She also has to be in something or behind it. She would absolutely love this cottage! :)

Does it have to cats? I work for Mainely Rat Rescue and I know our shelter ratties would love to have this as an addition to their playpen. Just think of all the fun that could be had climbing and stashing treats and toys!

My 2 Yrs. Old cat Frisky would love to have his own little hide away because we also have a 11 month old very active female Pit Bull puppy who always wants to play with Frisky! Frisky loves our Pit Chewy and likes playing with her also….But enough is enough!! Not 24/7 Lol

I LOVE this!!! I purchased a couple of these several years back and we actually built a wooden interior frame so that it could hold several cats at once. We’re definitely due for a new one!!!

My daughter would LOVE this for her cats!

2 years ago while building our house a stray cat wondered up in our garage. She would not come to us, very shy and OMG how skinny you could see her ribs & every breath she took sounded like it would be her last. Well, I am not a cat lover by any means, but I could not stand the thought of her starving to death, so off to town I went & got a bowls & cat food. We lived in another state & would drive over every weekend to check on the progess of the house & her. It took months before she would let us get near her & touch her. Well needless to say after the house was finished & we moved in, so did she, She is now a healthy, happy, FAT cat & shows her love & appeciation every day for us saving her life. Samatha deserves this for the awful life she had to live for years thanks to an owner that thew her away like a piece of trash. They don’t know what they missed. Thank you Samatha for chosing us to be you new family.

My cats would love this. If I put it near the kitchen window maybe they would lounge on it instead of my kitchen table while they are watching the birds outside!!!!

Linda Kingston March 31, 2011 at 11:04 am

My cats would love this! They chase each other around and this would give them another place to hide from the others and for chill time when they rest.

Holly Renee Seymour March 31, 2011 at 11:06 am

I have 9 indoor cats, and although they have a few cat trees, they don’t have any really good ‘hiding’ spots. This looks perfect for the bashful ones and a lot more comfortable than under the sofa!

Diane Buell March 31, 2011 at 11:39 am

I am allergic to kitties, so I have to enjoy everyone else’s. My daughter has always wanted a cat or two of her own, and will soon have her own place. What a wonderful kitty-grandma I would be to bestow this grand piece of real estate! I’ll supply my own allergy eye drops! ; )

This would be a wonderful thing to have for all four of our rescue kitties. Our old calico often needs to get away from the younger ones and the younger three are always looking for a new plaything, particularly anything that helps hide them, encourage a game of chase, or stash toys. This is so much better than a regular cardboard box for it appears to have multi-levels and adorable, charming art work.

Amanda March 31, 2011 at 12:46 pm

Our cat thinks any box that comes into the house is his anyhow and it’s hard to take them away. This would be neat for him because he could finally keep one of ‘his’boxes. It’d be tall enough to stay perched upon to look outside, he’d have his own hiding place and it’s cute too. He looks just like the kitty on top of the cottage in the photo. :)

Thank you!

I not only have 2 dogs, but I have 2 cats. Believe me, they would love to have a cat cottage to play in. One of the kittys is a 3 1/2 month old rescue who is a Piece of Work! this kitty has no fear. He’s the boldest kitten I’ve ever seen. No hesitation or fear about Anything. He is alot of entertainment.

Kathy Sheppard May 12, 2011 at 11:46 am

I have 7 cats and they would absolutely love a cat cottage. They run, tackle each other and play endlessly. They love boxes and I can just picture them all right now, hanging out every window, jumping in and out of each of the openings. I would have just as much fun watching them as they would have playing in it. A purrrrrrfect gift for my babies!!!
