**Guest post from Ellen B.**

The Busy Buddy Dog Bone is a real “LIKE” by many of the Drs. Foster & Smith employee-owned dogs! It’s a treat holding nylon bone toy that is a real dog boredom-buster and it helps promote dental health. The bristle style bone features soft rubber nub rings, Gnawhide treats, plus stiff, tooth-cleaning nylon bristles to enhance the dental benefits of chewing.

The replaceable Gnawhide treat discs are apparently very tasty because they drive my dogs nuts. The discs last longer than most chew treats because they’re placed between a bristle layer and a knobby rubber layer. Little do the dogs know they’re brushing their own teeth while they’re madly working at getting that treat disc!

My dogs are at-attention as I unscrew the ends of the bones to put the treat discs in. When the bones go down, the dogs are fired-up and ready to do what they need to do to get that delicious reward! They much prefer to chew the toy with a treat disc in it, but occasionally they’ll pick up a treat less Busy Buddy Bone and chew on the hard nylon ends.

The Busy Buddy Bone is INCREDIBLY helpful with my new puppy. We got her at age 6-weeks so we’ve witnessed her crazy chewing needs. When she starts chewing something inappropriate, we distract her and redirect her attention to a chew toy, often the Busy Buddy Bone.

Features of the Busy Buddy Bone:

  • Conquer boredom and support pet dental health with these innovative dog toys
  • Bone-hard nylon ends, combined with multiple-texture add-ons, give dogs chewing variety
  • Replaceable treats reward dogs for their hard work
  • Available in various sizes to accommodate all size dogs

A fellow Drs. Foster & Smith colleague also tried the Busy Buddy Bristle Bone with her dogs. Here’s her review of the toy:

My dogs love the Busy Buddy Bone! My dogs have always loved the Nylabones, but always chewed them to destruction in a matter of just a few days. The replaceable rawhide rings give my dogs something else to chew on, so the nylabone portion lasts longer. The dogs love this toy so much, we have designated it a special occasion toy (which means it is not in their toy bin with all the other toys). It stays in the cupboard until the evening and they get to enjoy it after their supper. Otherwise, they would chew on it for hours and hours!

I am a 5 to 7 month old miniture Poodle mix who has terrible separation anxiety because I was left alone for long hours by two previous owners. Even though I lucked out this thirt time and finally got a human friend that loves me and really enjoys being with me, she does have to go places sometimes. My human friend says I’m really smart and she can’t figure out why anyone wouldn’t just love having me as a furry friend. So I know she cares for me but I still get very scared she won’t return that I cry and bark almost constantly when she has to leave. A toy like this would keep me busy until she can hurry back home to me.

These are great for keeping strong chewers busy. I like being able to add treats to the toy too.

I have a small rescue. One day this big black dog came bounding onto our property and she never left. No one claimed her so we are trying to find her a furever loving family. We cannot give her the time she deserves. She would just love one of these bones to chew on so she’s not so bored. Blackie Wanda is just such a big lovable girl. thank you

I have a 10 pound chihuahua who gets left alone while I am attending classes at my university. Geoffrey would love to have a busy bone to occupy his time while I am away!!

Becky May 27, 2011 at 2:17 pm

Since my two always think they deserve a bone to chew one, we need something long lasting. We have been using bully sticks, but they are expensive and dont last super long. Love the idea of cleaning teeth while chewing…two birds with one stone, as they say :)

I have a 3 year old English Bull Terrier who loves to chew chew chew. Its to hard to find him things that keep him occupied but he’s very food drivin. We have tried many toys and nothing really seems to keep his intrest. This would be the perfect thing for him, give him something to do plus he would have a goal which he seems to love.

Tu Nguyen May 27, 2011 at 2:31 pm

Our 18 month old puppy Emmy Sue needs toys to keep her busy so she does not miss us when we have to leave her alone. She is so smart and needs toys that make her think and reward her too.
She came to us from the local animal shelter and we are so blessed to have her become part of our pack.

Sandra May 29, 2011 at 1:53 pm

This looks like something that will last longer than five minutes with my two dogs. I can’t find anything that will last longer than a day with them. I keep trying…

Rosemary May 29, 2011 at 6:20 pm

Lucky loves those rawhide discs that go on this bone. He has the ball bone, but gets the rawhide off in just a few minutes. Maybe this would take him a little bit longer. Ilka would enjoy it also.

Janet Taff January 31, 2012 at 5:57 am

My 2 year old Chocolate Lab loves these. We used to be able to get these @ Target. When they started only carrying the Bouncy Buddy, we had to order them online. We would buy the replacement rings (the ones that had 12 rawhide and 12 cornstarch refills in the same packet.) for 7.69. And when we bought them, we would buy every one they had. Well now they screwed us by having in stock a 12 pack replacement rawhide ring package that they are still selling for 7.69. I still can’t find the 24 pack. Any suggestions??

Ellen B. February 1, 2012 at 8:53 am

Janet,
Here at Drs. Foster & Smith, we offer a 16-pack refill package. The cost depends on the size needed.
