Being Thankful

I am thankful for…

Cirrhi the cat, who lies in my lap on cold winter evenings.

Ritter the cat, who is a constant source of comedy with his wild antics and play!

Kai the cat, who is always so very happy to have me come home from work.

Mocca the dog, who keeps me busy and provides hours of content companionship.

Memories of other cats and dogs who have left me…

I am thankful for…
Squeeker the fraidy cat finally coming out of “her room” after 4 years…
Thumper the ‘bully’ cat for purring on my lap and giving me comfort even when he doesn’t know the challenge
Dreidel the ‘street smart’ cat for insisting on my attention (it’s always good to know you are wanted)
Velcro the dog for all his antics and keeping me hopping
Duncan the dog for setting an example that challenges can be overcome (he is blind) and for being the peaceful one
I am thankful for all of them making me laugh and giving unconditional love and acceptance every day

Jackie November 23, 2010 at 11:47 am

So thankful for my family, friends, and three goofy dogs: Murphy, Baxter, and Beau! Even when feeling down- they pick you right back up.

Jill Ladd November 23, 2010 at 11:53 am

I’m thankful for my 3 dogs. I’ve got 2 bassets and 1 dachund. My 2 bassets have seen me at my best and worst and love me no matter what. They’ve helped me through a most painful divorce and saw me fall in love and re-marry and become a step mom. Now those little pups have a little (human) girl all they’re own !! they’re my best friends in all the world and I’d do anything for them. I’m grateful for the unconditional love they give me and I hope I can be the person they think I am. I try every day.

I am thankful for my cat Basil who is the perfect napping partner, my cat Tux who we would have lost this year if he wasn’t such a fighter, my dog Valentine who is always happy just to be in the same room as me, Slevin our bearded dragon who is quite the character, and all of the foster dogs and cats we’ve had while they waited for forever homes!

Emily November 23, 2010 at 11:56 am

I’m thankful for my pit, Rosie, who is my little snuggly space heater at night.

Anna B. November 23, 2010 at 11:58 am

I’m thankful for Dixie, my Scottish Terrier. Pound for pound, she is the best kitchen assistant out there – she will actually alert when food needs tending or has finished cooking. There is no negotiating with a Scottie when it comes to time!

I am thankful for Farley our aging Golden for being with us this holiday season. He brings joy to my family everyday by bringing us a battered stuffed duck or a large tennis ball. Farley sleeps next to my side of the bed every night. I have MS and when he knows I am getting sick he glues himself to my side. Not sure what I will do without him.
I am also thankful for Mike or newf puppy….he is so big and silly. He brings us a very drooled on large tennis ball or just lays his wet drooley muzzel on the arm of our chair for a scratch. He loves to snuggle!!
The reason I would like the DaBirdie toy is for a peace offering to my sister’s cat when Mike meets her……her head will be all drooley from love!!

Dona November 23, 2010 at 12:18 pm

I’m thankful for all the cats and kittens who’ve come through my door who have taught me how to be more patient and compassionate. And thankful for the wonderful people who have opened their hearts and homes and adopted from us.

Thomas Martin November 23, 2010 at 2:03 pm

My wife and I are thankful for our 8 year old pug and 2 year old newfie. They are much more fun to watch playing at night than the TV. We are both senior citizens but continue to learn what true love means through our pups.

Alison November 23, 2010 at 2:40 pm

I am thankful for Winnie Cooper the Shih-Tzu, Sharona the pitbull and Walter my Maine Coon mix kitty.
This year they are thankful for their new bed (ordered from Drs Foster and Smith of course!).

Caryn November 23, 2010 at 2:42 pm

I am thankful for….
My beautiful brindle mutt, Olivia!!!! She is super lovie and affectionate in the morning and absolutely crazy at night. She’s a total goofball who can make you laugh no matter how bad your day is. If anyone needs to smile or needs a good chuckle they can just drop by our house. The best is when you give her something new to eat. She will play with it forever before she finally eats it. I am so in love with her!!!!!

Kathy George November 23, 2010 at 2:48 pm

I have two small Shih Tzus, Peanut and Pocket. Little boys that came into my life when I was very down. I feel that they saved me… I love them as much as if they were my children. I thank God every day for their love. They make me smile just looking at them and have blessed me so. I am Thankful for my babies!!!

Alfreda Holloway November 23, 2010 at 2:48 pm

I am thankful for our two Miniature Pinschers (11 year old Peanut and 9 year old Bambie). Our lives would not be complete without them. Over the years they have been great companions and add much joy to our lives. Peanut has diabetes and receives insulin injections twice a day. I am most thankful that his diabetes is under control and we can expect to enjoy him a few more years. Also thankful for Bambie’s health.

Trena Blankenship November 23, 2010 at 2:57 pm

I am thankful for my Boxer Major who gives me a reason to get up every morning. Major shares our lives, our home, and he is a part of our family.
Major never fails to bring a smile to my face, and often challenges me while training which I love. Major is my constant companion, and together we stay active, and enjoy play dates with other dog owners.
Major brings far more to our home, family than I could ever describe, or put in to words. I could not imagine life with out him in it.

heidi hammitt November 23, 2010 at 3:09 pm

I am thankful for my two girls. They make my day and are always there for me when I need someone. They are my snugglers, my watch cats, my everyday. They always know when I am coming home from work and are waiting for me. I would and do, do anything for my Peanut and Maiya! Love my girls. (And we all love our things we get from foster and smith; food, treats, toys, fish and other supplies)

Sarah November 23, 2010 at 3:13 pm

I am thankful for my two Sheltie “brothers,” Bert & Ernie. They live with my parents, so I don’t see them very often. But when I do, you’d think I was the most amazing person on earth…especially if I arrive bearing DFS gifts. They’re quite a pair, and I can’t wait to see them (and the rest of my family, of course) this Thanksgiving. God bless and safe travels to everyone this holiday season!

judi mackiewicz November 23, 2010 at 3:36 pm

I am so thankful for my two pups. We don’t have children because I have MS and my two little dogs are my “kids.” They keep me going, keep me company, and never let me down!!!!

Jill Butler November 23, 2010 at 3:55 pm

I am thankful for my 2 year old whippet who has become number one dog since we lost our 10 year old mixed breed dog 5 weeks ago. The dog we lost was my life and greatest love. Now Jace is filling in part of the hole.

Ellen B. November 23, 2010 at 4:11 pm

I’m very thankful for my Lil Bit who has had a healthy year. He had liver surgery last year & there was one point before the surgery, we didn’t know if the surgery would work. It was a good surgery & worked very well. He is our #1 Havanese. I’m also thankful for Kodi our GSD, Malika our female Havanese we aquired this year & blessed us with 4 adorable Havanese puppies, of which we are keeping 2 of them, who have been healthy also. And also my cat Frankie, who is good with the little dogs. Above all to be spending the holidays with my darling husband & our wonderful children. We are truely blessed.

Felicia November 23, 2010 at 8:31 pm

Chicken, my 7 year old conure who is smart and polite,
my hamsters who are fun and furry,
and my seahorses who remind me there is still magic and wonder in the world.

I have had my dog since 1999,I went out in the snow thinking it was a kitten I was hearing.but to my surprise it was a puppy. I tryed to give it back to the mother, but she wasn’t taking him.So I went to pet co to see what I could do to keep this little pup a live and there was a lady there that had raised pups when the mother dog wouldn’t take their own pups. So I got the supply’s I need and he was raised on a bottle and other thing. I have had him all this time and this dog has brought so much happiness to the family. He started getting sick and so off to the vet he when, glade to report it wasn’t anything bad. The had him fix and he back to making this family smiling again. I love my animals like they are my children.between 8 outside dogs,6 inside dogs,4 Donkeys, ducks, chickens, geese,a turkey. They are my kids and raising my grandson my life couldn’t be any better then that.

Jacqueline November 24, 2010 at 6:59 am

I’m thankful for Obie and Andy, my two beautiful golden retrievers. I lost my beautiful Baylee a year ago and Obie and Andy forever keep a part of her with us … with their beautiful eyes, their hugs, their wags and kisses …..

Kelly November 24, 2010 at 7:39 am

I am thankful for our lab Lilly who has provided me with love and comfort through a difficult time with infertility. My husband and I may not have children yet but when she goes out of her way to get in the chair with me to sleep on my lap she soothes my soul.

Laura November 24, 2010 at 7:55 am

I’m thankful for:
Abby- our sweet lil puff who always wins over even the greatest of cat critics with her affection and love.
Deebie- our loving lab mix who makes me smile every day and gives me unconditional love. She’s thankful for dog parks. 😉
Felix- our funny lil man who makes the funniest faces/noises and entertains everyone with his crazy antics. He makes us laugh everyday. Abby thinks he’s her kitten.
Elise- our newest addition who found a great home with us after she had been abandoned near our house. She’s such a sweet girl and she’s going to have the best life we can give.
I’m also thankful for Bailey, my German shepherd mix. I’m thankful she blessed me with 5 wonderful years and I’m thankful she’s no longer in pain.

Pam November 24, 2010 at 8:38 am

Unrestricted love, absolutely. No matter how rotten my day seems to be I can always count on my Rosie (American doe) to be happy to listen to me rant and complain while she snuggles right into my arms and tickles my face & ear as if to say “It’s OK mom, it’ll work out in the end”.

Stephanie and Balto November 24, 2010 at 9:03 am

My boy, Balto, was gift to me after I lost my Chico, when he passed away much too young from Osteosarcoma.
I am thankful everyday that I kiss his wonderful velvet muzzle because not only does he remind me of pure love, but I also see in him, my furry loves of the past.

Stacy Johnson November 24, 2010 at 3:28 pm

I am thankful for “Gabby” my little guardian angel pug who sits by my side & makes me feel that everything will be okay! “Madison” my bear of a pug who dictates what & where we will do things and
Rajah my boxer who is the best dog anyone could ever ask for!! She started out as my son’s dog & due to health issues we “adopted” her & she’s such a sweetheart & came into our family as a blessing. My dogs have been my guiding lights the past two years, as without them I probably wouldn’t have gotten out of bed each & every day! I thank God for all three of them each & every day!

Leann November 24, 2010 at 8:48 pm

I have a “wobbly cat”, I can never give back to her what she gives me. The good lord above has blessed me with her to come into my life!!

Marla November 24, 2010 at 9:32 pm

I am so very thankful for my two furry kitties, Simey and Oscar. They are non-related brothers we adopted from an uncaring neighbor. They are so much a part of our family, they are our kids and we love them so much. They are so different with their own personalities but bring such joy to our lives. God works in mysterious ways…..he brought them to us over 2 years ago right after our own beloved cat Toby of 18 years passed away. He knew we were grieving….and then gave us 2 more reasons to smile again and share our home with these two unique furry creatures that we love!

Nancy Moss November 26, 2010 at 12:31 am

I am so thankfull each and everey day for all of the animals i have had in the past and for the ones i have now. I love Azland my little funny hampster. He is a big ball of white fur and so sweet. I think he is so spoiled because if i don’t take him out of his cage he will chew on the wires and it sounds like morse code. I am so thankfull for my cat Snowball,Rockie and scrapper. I just lost my wonderfull and loving cat Rascall. He was 15 years old and passed away last Sunday in his sleep. I miss him so very much. I am also thankfull for my chocolate lab named cocoa and boy he can be such a pain but when you talk to him all of the anger he has stirred up just goes away because when he looks at you with those eye’s you just can’t help not to be mad at him any more. and also for my beagle/border collie mix named fitch. i guess you can say that animals can and do give love no matter what the circumstanses are. And i would miss them all so much if any thing happened to them. and one last comment from beauty my cockatieal he say’s yes i do love my mommy so very much.

Michelle Seipel December 3, 2010 at 3:50 pm

I am thankful for my dog Pepsi who has brought so much happiness to my whole family! I am also thankful for all the animals on this Earth who deserve to be treated more humanely!. Animals are not ours to take and do whatever with. All living creatures need care, love and respect! Animals Matter!!!

Melissa Belter December 6, 2010 at 8:40 am

I am thankful for Shadow my sweet kitty who brings a smile to my face everyday. She has a warm spot in my husbands heart too which I never thought would happen. I had to beg him to let me adopt a pet from the humane society when we first got married as our house was empty and so was a part of my heart who longed for a furry friend. Now my husband has her doing little tricks and snuggles with her when no one is looking. : )
