**Guest post from Ellen B.**

After I wrote a “behind the scenes” blog post about the Drs. Foster & Smith photo studio, the Video Studio Director (Jeff) invited me to observe a video shoot. Of course, I jumped at the chance.

About the Drs. Foster & Smith video studio: Most videos are produced on location in our video studio located in Rhinelander, WI. Typically, any pets used in videos belong to employees, and people in videos are generally employees from various departments. In other words, we do not hire professional actors, they’re all regular people. It just so happens that the majority of our employees are pet owners, and therefore very comfortable with the pets and products they demonstrate. Our photo studio was built in late 2008, and we now have built the library to over 350 videos. We are approaching over 2 million total video views on our site.

The purpose of the video shoot I observed was to show people how to vaccinate their cat at home. (By the way, vaccinating your pet at home is a GREAT way to save money on pet care.) The part in the final video where the cat actually receives the injection was done in an earlier take at one of the pet clinics that the company offers for employee pets. I was surprised at how little rehearsing was done. Jeff told them what to do, and they made it look so simple.

I took some video of the video shoot that will give you a feel for the inner-working of our video studio. Enjoy!

This is so interesting to see how you make all the videos. The cat was so well behaved (and cute)!
