Hello Heath,
I love you series of articles, and would like to share them with my customers. May I have your permission to link your blog to my website? I am a new koi dealer in the NE Wisconsin Area (Stiles, WI, about 25 minutes North of Green Bay), and I think your experiences with Koi in Wisconsin will be a great read for anyone wishing to keep them in our warm weather-challenged state.
Warm Regards,
Yana DeMyer

Aside from keeping track of numbers, it's also important to keep track of breeding levels. I like to seperate the males from the females, in order to avoid unwanted fry. Thank you for bringing this to the attention of pond keepers! The water quality is the only way to keep these fish healthy, which is most importantly affected by the number of fish per gallons. Keeping the numbers in check will greatly reduce illness and increase the lifespan of these gorgeous creatures.

I hope many people read this post. It is sensitively written and could help many people avoid these same trials with their ponds. In fact, I think the single most important thing for anyone to do before they build a Koi pond is to educate themselves and do some basic research. You have definitely included many important points that will hopefully be taken to heart.
