Porsche loves a good box to sit on!
Last week I brought home the groceries, unloaded them from the paper bags as I had forgotten my “eco-friendly” bags at home (of course!). As I finished putting the groceries away, I heard a crinkling and turned to see what it was. One cat had made his way INTO one of the empty bags that was standing, and another cat had made herself a bed atop one. Neither seemed inclined to
move.
Two weeks ago we received a package in the mail, opened it up, and of course discarded the box on the floor for awhile. When I turned around to pick up the box & bring it outside to recycle it, what do you know? A cat was perched neatly on top of it, with no indication that he was going to move. In fact, it appeared as though this was something he had been waiting for all his life and was never going to leave.
A month ago I was catching up on laundry, got interrupted, and placed a set of folded sheets on the back of the couch. When I got back to finishing the laundry, a cat was seated on the sheets. She made it quite clear she was not moving, and this was her new, wonderful bed.
Kai in his previously unused bed.
Three months ago we were moving the living room around to make room for a new TV. A cat bed (unused, but we had it, just in case) in the room got moved to the hallway while we moved things around. When we went to put the cat bed in its new spot in the living room….we were dismayed to find a cat in the bed (did I mention, it was previously unused?). And of course, the cat was NOT getting out.
So, if you come visit me, please don’t mind the paper grocery bags lying around, or the boxes, or random bits of laundry here and there, or the cat bed in the middle of the hall, which you will need to step around to get through…
It’s all for the cats.

Melissa, Like your babies, my two “kitty babies” love bags and boxes. I found a nice safe box for them and placed their favorite toys inside as a game for them. They loved it. Then we made a hole at the end of the box where we could put their favorite feathered & stringed toys into the box and move it around so they could go crazy on the hunt for it. Hours of enjoyment! Now I’m replacing those feathered toys with more DFS toys!
We currently have tissue paper all over our living room floor, a pile of laundry in the closet in the dresser, two empty cardboard boxes on top of a huge tupperware tub next to our computer (the 2 cats lay in them side by side while I am on the computer so I can pet them…. a cat tower in the corner, cat bed in the other corner….. blankets in the window sills… all for the babies. Pardon the weird random things in my house, but its the cats house, I just live there.
LOL! That is exactly right! I forgot about the towel on top of the printer so the cat could sit up there and get petted while we’re on the computer. Love ‘em!
My husband and I are “owned” by four cats, all with personalities so different from each other, I wonder how they get along as well as they do! Our home looks like a cat day care center…we have three kitty condos, soft cushioned little beds, numerous catnip filled toys, blankets in the window, although their favorite spots to sleep are sometimes in the bathtub or closet! All of our babies have been rescued strays, one who had four darling kittens, which we found loving homes for, after they were spayed and neutered! Gosh, I don’t know what we’d do without these little rascals.
For some reason cats like to hide in paper bags. We have a cat that likes to tunnel under our living room rug for reasons only known to her.
Well I’m counting myself lucky our cats have never taken up residence in the bathtub! We’d be in trouble then. That’s a good one!
All cats LOVE to play in paper bags! I’ve had cats since I was a small girl and we’d place an empty brown bag on the floor and watch them play ‘hide & seek’ in the bags.
